RESOURCES AND INNOVATION FROM ORGANIC SCIENCE Foundation
Project organization: merging Science, Innovation and Design (R&D)
THESE PROJECTS INNOVATION + DESIGN (R&D)
They are currently in process,
THEREFORE THEY ARE NOT FINISHED
Currently, I am developing projects with renowned scientists who have received awards such as the Extraordinary Doctoral Prize, were pioneers in obtaining the Fulbright scholarship, or the first prize for Technology and Knowledge Transfer UCM, among others... in addition to being funded by different organizations, including the European Union.
My research focuses on merging design and innovation to enhance both disciplines through this union. In the water project, the aim is to convert non-potable water into potable water using a purification device, where the main innovation lies in the photosensitizing dye material.
This discovery is highly significant, as millions of people worldwide lack access to safely managed drinking water services. According to the United Nations, unsafe water and sanitation are leading causes of infant mortality, in addition to the transmission of diseases.
For humanity, water is a fundamental right, as it is essential for health, so people must have access to drinking water in sufficient quantity and quality, according to the minimum needs of society.
Water is synonymous with life, that's why we offer these projects, to help improve people's quality of life, and try to solve part of the water problem with this discovery.

Professor and scientist at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, with doctoral candidate Ana Rico

Water purifier
This water purification device is offered to remote communities that lack sanitation networks, such as isolated rural areas. It produces 70 liters of purified water per day, enough to supply a family.
This device can be used in countries with high solar radiation, high insolation, and little water.
The device needs these three things to work:
1- Sunlight with the CORRECT ORIENTATION*
(It needs 8 hours of direct sunlight; it works worse with clouds.)
2- Dissolved oxygen in water
3- Photosensitizing dye in a special silicone that lasts 6 months
The innovation of this device is the material of the photosensitizing dye.
The purifier must be in the CORRECT ORIENTATION; that is, it is very important that the reactor is oriented so that the sun shines on it along its entire path. For example, in Madrid, the unit is currently tilted at a 40-degree angle; the further north the unit is located, the more vertical its orientation should be.
Furthermore, this innovation can be combined with design, creating diverse new objects, in:
forms
textures
or sizes
such as sources, which contain this material with the photosensitizing dye, being able to offer drinking water to solve different problems, both in Humanitarian Aid, as well as in Environmental Aid.
We have not yet been able to solve the water problem on a large scale, but we can begin to help thousands of people, who are already part of biodiversity, while we find the global solution to achieve drinking water for all. Through innovative future technological proposals, we will be able to reach this goal.
